Every Picture Tells a Story Don't It

"Every picture tells a story don't it"

When I first conceived the idea of a sustainable delivery service using cargo bikes, coffee and farmers markets came to mind. I thought, wouldn't it be better to have a bike bring things to and from the market? It just fits better with the ethic and the human scale and everything local markets stand for.

Well, last week, my vision came to fruition. We started doing deliveries for Middle Fork Roasters to Ghost Alley Espresso in Pike Place Market. We had a blast. The guys at the fish market even threw a ceremonial pound of coffee.

I wanted to share some amazing pictures that Ryan Warner captured of our first deliveries.

It's been an amazing first week for FREEWHEEL.

There have been lots and lots of highlights. I'll share more fun stories, photos and videos in future blog pieces.

For now, I want to share how this Facebook post, as one small example, may point to our potential.

We made our first delivery to Central Co-op for Molly's yesterday. While I was there, Roger from their deli snapped this photo and posted it to their Facebook page, announcing that Molly's is now delivering by bike.

It goes without saying that a post like this is great for FREEWHEEL, especially during our very first week of deliveries.

But more than that, I believe it illustrates how FREEWHEEL's sustainable last mile delivery can create value for the companies we deliver for as well as the places we deliver to.

Here's what I mean.

First, it's great to see Molly's getting recognition for choosing a  sustainable delivery option. Hopefully, this will win them even more fans of their great products and practices.

Second, Central Co-op got a whole bunch of 'likes' on their Facebook page, as their followers show their enthusiasm for this new sustainability program.

If FREEWHEEL can do good for the environment and create this kind of value for the companies we collaborate with, we will really be on to something.
